The Compassionate Friends is a national nonprofit, self-help organization with almost 600 chapters and four local chapters in the Northern Virginia region. The mission of the Compassionate Friends is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive.

We offer bereaved families

• a safe place to meet and talk freely about their child/sibling/ grandchild

• a caring place to discuss their grief issues

• a place where no one is required to speak

• a place where non-judgmental listening is expected

• a place of warmth and love where they will get and receive a hug to let them know we understand and care.
